Fall On Me 04:41
Fall On Me Verse 1 Fall on me this time I will keep you dry Through the rain And back again Fall on me this time Lay your hand in mine I can too Be strong like you Bridge Rest your heart You can always start Again Verse 2 Follow me this time I will be your eyes I can see If you let me Chorus And all the things you taught me And all the things you braved I kept them all inside me They’re with me everyday With the things I didn’t say Verse 3 Fall on me this time I will keep you dry Through the rain And back again Bridge Rest your heart You can fall apart Chorus And all the nights you held me And all the times you stayed I kept them all inside me They’re with me everyday With the things I didn’t say

My Street 05:21
My Street Verse 1 Down on my street in a cafe A young man is scribbling Sipping a latte Smokes his cigarettes down to the core Thinks he’s Satre But he can’t write a birthday card Across the street a girl with a smile Talking on the telephone Catches his eye And she’s really an alien You wouldn’t know Dressed in an overcoat Out incognito They are only pretending Chorus Down on my street I’m not what I seem And you could be anyone If you know what I mean Down on my street They’re making it up Right in front of you But don’t be surprised ‘Cause you pretend too Verse 2 ’Round the corner A couple in a fight Kept the neighbours up Making love all night And a man dressed in a suit Walks with briefcase and tie Has a painted left toe nail But don’t ask him why An old lady sits on a bench in the park In second hand clothing And ragged old scarf Though she’s really a Duchess She doesn’t care. Look in her bags There’s a million in there It’s a secret that she’ll never tell Chorus Bridge And I see it all Here at my window Watching this street Verse 3 Like a little TV show ‘Cause all that is hidden Is all that we are A little eccentric And slightly bizarre Let’s pretend we’re ordinary people
3.
Hit The Ground Verse 1 Leave me here In this still Laughing with you Halfway up the hill You and me Following the signs Toast and honey Tasting art Lying with you in St Andrews Park You and me Quietly entwined You’re like a brand new start You’re all right Chorus And I’ll keep you just like this Every taste and every sound And I’ll keep you just like this For when we hit the ground For when I hit the ground Verse 2 Feeling small Looking up You knelt down beside me You understood You and me Quietly connecting We were fine All along So whatever you’re thinking We didn’t get it wrong But this is me Sweetly reflecting You’re like a brand new start You’re all right Chorus
4.
16 Points 04:02
16 Points Verse 1 Out of the blue You appeared All brand new Faith in your hands I don’t care Where we land And I might laugh I might sigh I might feel Warm inside Your kiss Verse 2 Lay by my side Talk with me Bring your smile Mercury in your eyes Blue and wide Like the sky And I might dream You might sleep Breathe again In time with me And hold me close… Instrumental Verse 3 Say we were right I need hope You need time And so we fell Least we know We loved well And we might grow Make it right We might meet Fly that kite Over the downs
5.
Chef 03:30
Chef Verse 1 Looking for a reason To make another mistake Taking it for granted Just watching me fall on my face How good of you to notice When nobody cared You really should walk away Verse 2 Put it in your pocket And call it loose change It takes another bracket To put it right back into place And once you know the meaning It doesn’t make sense Stay on your side of this barbed wire fence Chorus Keep a view Wall to wall While you’re bolting the door So you’re safe Deep inside You know how to hide Very well as you wish Sit in yourself But everything’s still outside Verse 3 I wonder if you noticed Or remembered the taste? I feel it in my fingers It’s the season of grace Open up your windows There’s a lot going on Winter is done Can you feel that sun? Chorus
6.
Mirror Mirror Verse 1 Mirror mirror Show her something to love Mirror mirror Nothing’s ever enough All of those dreams she had Where are they now? Chasing the circle down Around & around Mirror mirror Show her something to love Secrets inside Twisting tangling up And what can you taste right now? Another lost day Clear it all up little girl And wash it away Chorus And you’ll be fine If you could reach perfect And you’ll be fine If you could reach perfect Verse 2 Mirror, mirror Close the world close the door See this pretty site What on earth are you doing this for? Cover this nothingness Put on a smile Fill up this emptiness Can you fill up the sky? chorus No fear No tears No thoughts Numb
7.
Blowing This Candle Out Heard your name about a week ago Seems you’re getting it together so You’re doing fine And I’m in a mess Looking over all the things I do Everything comes back to you You’re doing find And I’m still in bed Bridge What I did , what I didn’t do What I should have done Well It’s still about you, now And I am not the weakest thread I’m not scared of What I have left, now Chorus But where was my head? Going insane And where has it got me To vow that I’d carry on holding your flame You were my life But what’s that all about? It’s time I was blowing this candle out Blowing this candle out Saw you from my windowsill Floating past on your pedestal You’re looking fine I need to get dressed And I don’t trust my heart anymore. No idea what I’m looking for You’re doing fine I’m really not that sure Bridge Chorus
8.
Landslide 05:28
Landslide Verse 1 So you can’t sleep Too much to think about Caught in a wave of doubt And trying to swim And it’s the middle of the night Your head’s going off again Things that you cannot mend Well not in the dark And anyway Spin a web take a deep breath Head up now don’t forget to smile And all of the while You’re not there at all Chorus Look at you now You can’t fight, you’re inside out Where are you now? Tongue-tied, you can’t cry out You’re barely breathing It’s a landslide With no time out But I won’t tell And don’t you hide it well Anyway… Verse 2 And who are you now? Who are you trying to be? And what about that silent scream You carry in your eyes? Chorus
9.
Feels Good 03:29
Feels Good Verse 1 Late nights and no sleep I’m not entirely sure What’s going on Keep losing my feet Does anybody know what’s happening? It feels ambitious I keep thinking something’s going to fall I get suspicious I guess I’m only human after all Chorus I look at you With that special smile That’s got me laughing like a child Are you teasing me? Or is this real? I’m not sure how I’m supposed to feel But it feels good Step back and watch you You didn’t arrive a moment too soon How could I miss you? When you shine just like the moon Chorus I look at you with that special smile That’s got me laughing like a child I’m trying hard to take it in I get blown away by everything The way you shine The things you know The way you feel you know you Got me so I’m in a daze but I’m wide awake I’m breathing in but I’m in a state I got no idea what’s going on But it feels good Bridge And everything turns On it’s head In a second And everything’s flying Around up above I’m losing my mind And the days And the hours But I just can not get enough Chorus I’m in a daze But I’m wide awake I’m breathing in But I’m in a state I got no idea What’s going on But it feel’s good
10.
Brother 03:59
Brother Verse 1 All across the water Oh little brother What did you find? And did it all make sense Outside of the room You left behind? Was it easier on you Without me In your life? I didn’t realise I was so guilty of letting you down Bridge Time all this time And I still don’t know What I did Time all this time And I still don’t know Why Chorus But it seems All in all I guess I Can’t make this better Little boy Are you still hiding under your hood darling? Through it all I guess I’m still chasing shadows Little boy I thought you knew I was a child too Verse 2 Staring at your picture You’re getting older I didn’t know She said your name out loud I swallowed it down Into the hole You were once forever You were my laughter My home Does none of this Mean nothing to you any more? Chorus
11.
Getting To Me Veres 1 I caught myself smiling Just stirring my tea I’m quietly suspicious You’re getting to me I sat with a book for hours But nothing was read I was too busy thinking ’Bout something you’d said Chorus But I’m not to let myself Get carried away And I’m trying to anchor My feet to the day And I’ve got to take care You don’t blow me away But I think that you’re getting to me Verse 2 I caught myself sighing ‘Cause you weren’t around Dropped your name in conversation Just to hear it out loud And someone’s talking at me now But I do not care I’ve drifted away And sat with you there Chorus

about

This is the debut album by Jane Taylor. BBC Radio 2 championed the opening track 'Fall On Me' and invited Jane and the band in for several sessions to help spread the word when she burst (small burst) onto the UK Music scene in 2006. The album was made in a barn in Oxford and produced by Bill Lovelady.

We had to stop for planes going overhead and for the occasional bird flying in. It has a really special sound because of that barn.

'Blowing This Candle Out'(Track 7) won 'Best Song' at the International Songwriting Competition. Another version of this track was recorded with Angelo Bruschini (Massive Attack). You can get that from an EP called 'Barefoot' (also on here).
